Story angles
This event does not yet have its own comparison: here is the story's High school crisis: government announcements deemed insufficient.
All three sides report the same government announcements and the continuation of mobilization, but the left insists on their insufficiency, the centre on their practical modalities and reactions, the right on the executive's strategy and critiques of the education system.
Left
Emphasizes the insufficiency of the measures, qualified as "crumbs" or "smokescreen", as well as unaddressed structural problems. Highlights the continuation of mobilization and contests government communication, notably the reception of influencers.
Centre
Details the content and implementation of the measures, such as the overhaul of Parcoursup, capping classes at 28, or teaching positions. Gives wide place to reactions from unions and François Hollande, as well as explanatory or verification formats.
Right
Highlights the executive's will to lower pressure and defend its plan, while relaying François-Xavier Bellamy's critiques on the baccalaureate level and the defense of Parcoursup by Jean-Michel Blanquer. Also notes the precedence given to influencers and the cost of the measures.
Common points
- =The government presented on October 26 a series of measures, including the gradual replacement of Parcoursup by 2028 and capping secondary school classes at 28 students.
- =Student and student organizations, as well as the SNES-FSU and Unef, judged the announcements insufficient and maintained calls for mobilization, including the November 5 strike.
- =La France Insoumise called for a vote on Parcoursup at the National Assembly, denouncing "scam" according to several headlines.
- =Influencers were received at Matignon before student and student organizations, which unions criticized.
Divergences
- ≠The left presents the measures as "crumbs" or "smokescreen" and insists on structural problems; the right highlights François-Xavier Bellamy's critique that the debate focuses on Parcoursup at the expense of the baccalaureate level.
- ≠The left qualifies the reception of influencers as "denial of democracy" or a derailing communication plan; the centre and right mainly describe it as a communication operation that bypassed unions.
- ≠The centre prioritizes practical modalities and verification of claims, an angle less present in left and right headlines.
- ≠The right underscores the cost of 5 to 6 billion euros and the defense of Parcoursup by Jean-Michel Blanquer; the left puts more emphasis on the maintenance of the strike and unmet expectations.
