National Police warn about a WhatsApp scam involving a fake competition
On October 23, 2026, the National Police warned against WhatsApp messages asking people to vote for a candidate in a competition, a link that could be used to hack accounts and contacts. On October 26, a new fake competition scam was identified: it encourages victims to vote to steal their account and then ask for money from their relatives. On October 27, a variant of the fake voting scam invites people to vote for a contact to take control of the account and the victim's data. The same day, a scam spreading fake messages from relatives, such as "Could you vote for Eliska?", was reported as widely disseminated.
