Crossings of the English Channel: rescues and convictions in Pas-de-Calais

At the end of October 2026, about thirty migrants were rescued and brought back to the Loubet basin in Boulogne-sur-Mer, while the SNSM (French National Society for Maritime Salvation) of Tréport intervened for a precarious boat carrying children on board, and two smugglers residing in Belgium were identified for organizing departures of 'small boats'. On November 1, a shipwreck at Equihen-Plage led to the hospitalization of five people, including a pregnant woman and a child, and new crossing attempts were reported in the Montreuillois area and at Berck. On November 2, about forty asylum seekers were brought back to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, one of them slightly injured. On November 6, the pilot of a migrant boat was convicted in Dieppe as a human trafficker, and three migrants suffered from hypothermia after an attempt from Berck. On November 7, two asylum seekers were sentenced in Leffrinckoucke for blocking a 'taxi-boat', and 119 migrants were taken into care in the Boulonnais region, including one person with burns.
