October 2026 bad weather in the Southeast: disappearance and natural disaster status

In the night of October 20, 2026, Michaël Amsallem disappeared in Roquebrune-sur-Argens during the bad weather; the gendarmerie launched a witness appeal on October 23. Ten days after the October 19 floods, 184 municipalities in the Southeast were recognized as being in a state of natural disaster, including 32 in Gard and 62 around Salon-de-Provence, with victims having 30 days to file their claims. At the end of October, orders also recognized 33 municipalities in Gard and 26 in Vaucluse as being in a state of natural disaster. In early November, the aftermath of the bad weather remained visible with rail restrictions in Bouches-du-Rhône, questions about watercourse maintenance in Sainte-Maxime, and traumatized residents near Toulon.
