Floods of 19 and 20 October 2026 in the South-East

On the night of 20 October 2026, Michaël Amsallem disappeared in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, in the Var department, during the severe weather; the gendarmerie issued a witness appeal on 23 October. On 29 October, 184 municipalities in the South-East, including 32 in Gard and 62 around Salon-de-Provence, were declared in a state of natural disaster, followed by 33 municipalities in Gard and 26 in Vaucluse. In early November, SNCF maintained rail restrictions in Bouches-du-Rhône and residents near Toulon testified to their trauma, while the maintenance of watercourses and risk culture returned to the debate in Sainte-Maxime. A resident of La Valette-du-Var also installed flood barriers thanks to public aid after €80,000 in damages.
