# Bouches-du-Rhône: firefighter shot and injured during intervention

> On November 1, 2026, in Pennes-Mirabeau, a firefighter from the Bouches-du-Rhône department was shot and injured during an intervention, with the attacker taking refuge; the RAID (Special Intervention Brigade) was on site. On November 2, professional firefighters' unions called for rallies outside fire stations across France in support of their seriously injured colleague. On November 3, the suspect was dislodged by the RAID and brought before the justice system, stating he felt "persecuted." That same day, RN deputy Julien Rancoule condemned the attack and called for minimum sentences, while Laurent Nuñez mentioned a possible ambush.

## Reported figures

- 2 injured
- 1 arrests

## Coverage angles

The three political leanings cover the same event but emphasize different aspects: the left focuses on the suspect's profile and the sequence of events, the center on official statements, the suspect's motive, and the mobilization of firefighters, while the right highlights political reactions (RN, minimum sentences) and the theme of "feralization" (loss of social control).

**Common ground**

- A firefighter was seriously shot and injured on November 1, 2026, in Pennes-Mirabeau during an intervention
- The suspect, a 51-year-old man already known to police and justice services, was dislodged by the RAID and then presented to the justice system
- The suspect stated he felt "persecuted"
- Support rallies for firefighters took place outside fire stations

**Differences**

- The right emphasizes the RN's condemnation and the call for minimum sentences, an angle absent from left-wing articles
- The left details the suspect's profile (illegal housing, behavioral issues) as a central element, whereas the right focuses more on the political reaction
- The center cites the Minister of the Interior's qualification of an "ambush," a term not repeated in left-wing headlines
