## Coverage angles

All three sides report Attal's proposal on TF1 as a call aimed at avoiding an LFI-RN runoff, but diverge in emphasis: the left stresses the vagueness of the initiative and its strategic scope, the center its mixed reception, the right the divisions and rejection it provokes.

**Common ground**

- Gabriel Attal launched his call on Wednesday, October 28 during TF1's 8 p.m. news.
- The stated goal is to prevent a runoff between LFI and the RN.
- Attal is described as trailing in the polls.
- Édouard Philippe and Bruno Retailleau received the proposal coldly or rejected it.

**Differences**

- Libération notes that no candidates, procedures or timetable are defined; this aspect does not appear in right-wing articles.
- The left highlights pressure exerted on Édouard Philippe, while center and right insist on his rejection of the initiative.
- The right describes the primary as a « stillborn project » and speaks of division among political families, an angle absent from the left.
